Cathy German has provided four wonderful stories: "Conversion," which is a security guards point of view during one of those missions we all recall so clearly. "Dear Mom," which is an ensigns letter to home before a fateful mission. "My Gift," which are the final reflections of our favorite Vulcan. And "Only So Much," in which McCoy is disturbed by the fact that Jim Kirk finds it difficult to accept that he's incapable of controlling bad things that happen to the people in his charge.
Rick Endres has put pen to pad and given us a story of transition with "Captains Bars." Its time for Hikaru Sulu to put on the captains bars. Sadly, we dont always get what we want. Rick also is hard at work on a novella, "A Difference Which Makes No Difference," which will feature the return of Princess Teresa. Im pleased to print the prologue of that novella, simply entitled "Blood Oath."
Jim Ausfahl is a true science fiction writer who fortunately for all of us likes writing Star Trek. His story, "The Pearl," has a unique lifeform, with a unique problem, and yes, a unique solution. An excellent piece!
Mary R. Schuttler is back again with another chilling tale. Her stories are probably best enjoyed during one of those late night lightning storms when the goosebumps can really get to you.
Lastly, Im delighted to publish a Sarek story by Selek. Have you ever wondered what Sarek and Amanda went through during the events of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, The Search for Spock and The Voyage Home? This moving spanning story focuses on Sareks experiences, and I find it a welcome addition to this zine.
Theres a beautiful color cover by Christine Myers and a few letters to the editor you might enjoy.
