synopsis: The U.S.S. Enterprise has just returned from a successful 5 year mission. Her original crew and Captain, James T. Kirk, are enjoying a 6 month shore leave while awaiting new promotions and assignments. While an extensive retrofit is scheduled for Starfleet’s most decorated vessel, Starfleet Admiral Hernandez has entrusted the Enterprise to Captain Calvin Mercer for a special assignment involving secret negotiations with a race of aliens known as the “GimTao” (Jim-Touw). The non-sanctioned mission hopes to provide the Federation an advantage in the delicate balance of power  in that quadrant of the galaxy while obtaining access to a unique and extraordinary power source. Captain Calvin Mercer and his newly formed crew must race against the clock to secure the alliance before Klingon and Romulan interference and return the Enterprise in time for her retrofit.
