It's Been a Long Road

As much as I detested Enterprise, I never had a problem with the series' theme. It's a terrific song, and I found myself humming it to myself this past month as Orion Press reached its 30th anniversary of publishing zines. Stardate 1 was published on June 14th 1979, and it was literally the shaky start of a tremendous journey, getting from there to here.

I'm often told that there are few fanzines left, and this sadly is quite true. The ready availability of fan fiction on the Internet killed printed fanzines, and yet this past month, Orion Press sold far more zines than usual. Fans of the original series are clearly enjoying the website and our fanzines. That's all I can hope for: that you'll find some entertainment on our website and in our zines.

The journey is not over; far from it. I like to think we're beginning to hit our stride, especially in the realm of Star Trek websites. I've avoided the flashy, visually overwhelming websites, and have instead chosen deliberately to keep it simple.
