This issues runs the gamut from the evening Pavel Chekov first stepped aboard the Enterprise to a mission set during the final days of Kirk's command of the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701-A; from Spock's departure from Vulcan for Starfleet to Kirk's tour as a Starfleet Academy instructor (and special missions operative) prior to Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. This is a good solid issue, well worth reading!

This issue features a variety of stories, ranging from Captain Pike on his Enterprise to Admiral Kirk on a cadet training cruise, from Ensign Chekov trying to fit in with the command crew of the Enterprise to Commander Chekov dealing with Spock’s death, from Samuel T. Cogley and Areel Shaw wrestling over Ben Finney’s case to Montgomery Scott wrestling with his soul. All in all, a very good issue you’ll definitely enjoy!

Sure to please everyone who reads it, this issue features stories by Jim Ausfahl (Scotty's origins), Diane Doyle (Finnegan return), Rick Endres (the death of Amanda), D.G. Littleford (Spock and Kirk on Spring Break in Iowa), Rob Morris (the anniversary of Kirk's death), and Mary Rottler & Lynn Syck (McCoy joins the Enterprise crew). A really solidly well-written issue! Now in full-page size again!

These stories either feature the Star Trek characters featured in The Cage (such as Captain Christopher Pike, Number One, Lieutenant Spock and Doctor Phillip Boyce) as well as stories about the characters from Star Trek: The Original Series (including Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Sulu and the others) but set before their tour of duty on the Enterprise, ranging from a young Spock's playful sehlat, to a teenaged Jimmy Kirk breaking the speed limit, to Sulu's first mission to an alien world.

These stories feature the Star Trek characters featured in The Original Series and The Animated Series, and all stories are set aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701, during the command of Captain James Tiberius Kirk. Featured characters include Captain Kirk, First Officer Spock; Doctor Leonard "Bones" McCoy; Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott, Lieutenants Sulu, Uhura, Chapel, Arex and M’ress, and Ensign Chekov.

Following the Serenidad Tragedy, the crew of the Enterprise found themselves in completely new situations. Admiral James Kirk and Captain Spock found themselves serving as instructors and deans at Starfleet Academy (all the while being used in some special assignments for Starfleet), while other members of the crew found themselves serving aboard different starships, some with friends, some with strangers. This hiatus ends with the events in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan.

These stories are set between the events of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan and slightly beyond Star Trek: The Final Frontier. The primary crewmembers from the first and second missions under Kirk's command are reunited for a series of adventures which end with a return to Vulcan for the Enterprise and Sulu's subsequent departure for the captaincy of  the science ship Cooper.

These stories are set following Star Trek: The Final Frontier and through Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. Captain James T. Kirk is in now command of the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701-A. For one last time, he and his crew are again bravely going where no man has gone before. It also includes stories of Captain Sulu as his tenure as commanding officer of the Cooper blossoms into a transfer to the U.S.S. Excelsior, where he assumes command of the troubled starship.

These stories are set following Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country and through the beginning of Star Trek: Generations. Captain James T. Kirk has retired and left Starfleet. Captain Spock is now serving with the diplomatic corps. Captain Scott is approaching retirement and is working in the Starfleet Corps of Engineers on refinements to Exceslior-class starship warp drives. Doctor Leonard H. McCoy has retired to Serenidad to practice some ol' country medicine. Meanwhile, Commander Penda Nyota Uhura has returned to Starfleet Academy as an instructor. Commander Pavel Andreievich Chekov is serving with Starfleet Public Relations. Captain Hikaru Sulu continues to serve as master of the Excelsior, and Commander Janice Rand is serving as his executive officer. And yet while their interests and careers have diverged, they still remain a family.

These are stories set after the events of Star Trek: Generations, and involve the various characters of Star Trek: The Original Series in various exciting adventures, continuing on their career paths without the wisdom, the humor, the humanity of their now deceased friend and commander. It is not an easy path, and some setbacks are assured, but these are the continuing voyages of our friends...

In 2285, Captain Hikaru Sulu assumes command of the U.S.S. Cooper, an Oberth-class science ship.  For the next five years, he commands missions that Starfleet doesn't feel worthy of the attention of one of it's top-of-the-line starships. Fortunately, he's got a good crew. But patience pays off, and in 2290, he receives the command of the starship of his dreams: Excelsior. Unfortunately, his crew leaves a lot to be desired.

In 2295, deep in the Beta Quadrant, in star cluster NGC-2548, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701-B, discovered the lost ship U.S.S. Hyperion, a Federation prototype missing for nearly twenty years. Captain Chekov dispatched his executive officer, Commander Uhura, with orders to get the derelict operational and returned to Earth. Once back at Earth, the Hyperion was readied for reassignment. On January 18^th 2296, the U.S.S. Hyperion, NCC-10100, was launched with its new captain, a new crew, and a new five year mission. These are some of the stories of Captain Uhura, Science Officer Drevan, Doctor M'Benga, First Officer Ken Reichard, Chief Engineer Indri, Communications Officer T'Sorval, Helmsman James Marsden, Physician's Assistant Harrison "Hardav" Davids, Doctor Giacomo Eletto, Weapons Officer Joe Tucker, Nurse Marie Webb and Assistant Chief Engineer Jesse Running Bear.
